FYI: Telo is poised to reshape the pickup truck landscape with its compact and powerful MT1, blending size efficiency with impressive performance specs.
Telo’s Compact Revolution: The MT1 Electric Pickup
The trend of ever-larger pickup trucks is facing a new challenger as electric vehicle startup Telo announces the launch of its newly unveiled MT1 electric pickup truck. Scheduled for release in early 2025, the MT1 promises a compact, high-performance alternative to traditional pickups, measuring in at just 152 inches—matching the footprint of a Mini Cooper.
### Powerful and Compact Design
Despite its diminutive size, the MT1 can comfortably seat five adults. It also boasts a sizeable six-foot bed, outmatching the Rivian R1T’s cargo dimension, making it a practical option for users who need truck-level utility. At its core, Telo is redefining space utilization and efficiency in the pickup sector.
### Stellar Performance Metrics
The MT1’s allure extends beyond its size, offering a potent blend of power and range. Customers can expect up to 300 horsepower from its single-motor, rear-wheel-drive base model, which starts at $41,520. Standard battery options provide an estimated range of 260 miles. For those needing even more, Telo offers upgrades that include a Long Range battery for an additional 350 miles plus range, and a dual-motor, all-wheel-drive system producing 500 horsepower.
### Fast-Charging and Durable Features
An available 106-kWh Long Range battery augments the MT1’s electric pedigree, allowing users to charge 210 miles in approximately 20 minutes using a suitable DC fast charger. Interestingly, whether you opt for a single or dual-motor configuration, Telo’s range promises remain consistent—a testament to the vehicle’s efficiency.
Beyond battery life, the MT1 is a workhorse. With a payload capacity of 1,600 pounds and a towing capacity of 6,600 pounds, it is designed for serious tasks. Its innovative midgate design further enhances utility, accommodating objects like 4-by-8-foot plywood sheets or a 9-foot surfboard behind the front seat.
### Excitement and Anticipation
With the MT1 appearing in Telo’s configurator, prospective buyers can already envision customizing their future rides. A reservation with a $152 deposit secures one’s place in line, with 3,700 reservations already tallied. Full orders are not yet open, and details could still change as the launch approaches.
In summary, Telo’s MT1 offers a compact truck option without compromising on performance or utility. For those interested in the future of efficient, electrified trucking, the MT1 is certainly an intriguing prospect.
